Can You Hear Me Now?
In February, we discussed the wireless industry's "dirty secret" - "anywhere, any time" coverage only works some of the time in some places. As we near the end of what has been a significant year for mobile data solutions (see this announcement from BlackBerry), we're proud to announce the next generation of Aeroprise products. More than ever, they work like you do - all places at all times, regardless of how many bars you have.

The first new product we're introducing is the Aeroprise Java client for BlackBerry. It's all that you've come to expect from Aeroprise, available wherever work takes you. The
only thing it won't do is give you an excuse for not working when you play hooky.

All of our new products take advantage of your device and network and make it easier to complete your transition to an office-less workplace. Here's what you can expect from the next generation of Aeroprise products, starting with the BlackBerry client:

1. Multitasking: work on one task in the foreground while server updates are made in the background when a signal is detected. You multitask, now your mobile applications do too.

2. Local data: all of your data is stored on your device. That means no waiting for pages to load and no need to worry about signal strength. Real-time updates can always be made when you're in coverage.

3. Persistent storage: work like you always have from a PC. Download what you need and go to the server for periodic updates. When you turn off your device everything will be there as you left it when you return.

This is just to whet your appetite. We'll be making a series of product announcements in the months ahead but we wanted to give you a first look at what's in store. Ask your Aeroprise representative for product data sheets or call us toll-free any time with questions: +1(866)809-9102.

Aeroprise Index Of Wireless Activity
The Aeroprise Index of Wireless Activity, IOWA, shed 1.0% in November despite the rebound of wireless stock prices (RIM's meteoric rise continues, up more than 400% since January 1). Several major stories including the FCC-imposed divestiture of Cingular spectrum dominated headlines during an otherwise slow news month.

Tip of the Month: Resolve Merging Conflicts
When you're out of coverage and you update a record that someone else updated while you were offline, you create a merging conflict when your change is pushed to the application server. You may want to override the other change or you may want to accept it. Use your conflicts report to accomplish either one.

Here's how:

From your Main Menu, click 'Resolve Conflicts'. You'll see a list of all your conflicts and their statuses. The error message from your server will be displayed along with a message from Aeroprise and information about the other user and their change. For instance, "Conflict detected: Bill Gates changed the status of your trouble ticket from 'bug' to 'feature'." Select what you want to do: "Accept" or "Ignore". When you refresh your conflicts report, you'll see that your conflicts have been resolved.

Last month's question: What percentage of all voice minutes used last year was from mobile phones?

(a) 3% (b) 9% (c) 23% (d) 39% (e) 75%

Last month's answer:

Last year, (d) 39% of all voice minutes used were from mobile phones. When you take into account all of the land line minutes used by corporations, this is a clear indication that land lines for personal use will soon go the way of the abacus and the travel agent.
